My request is ..
All postings on IV should identify the user as contributing member or a Free User.
That change will help IV to increase Funding ..
I will sign up for monthly recurring to IV if I see above change ..
You can add your contribution details to the signature. Remember, all the IVans are not paid for volunteer work. If you have time, please feel free to write the component compatible with joomla, paypal and google-checkout to implement this. We need to focus our energy on the action items, which will bring the benefit to immigration community through the bills that are in table.

What the you talking about? USCIS isn't efficient at processing? Are you crazy?
There are a whole bunch of people on the ROW thread thread who think they are the picture of efficiency - they deny the existence of wasted visas due to inefficiencies in processing.

My wife is still waiting for the AP. The receipt notice gives August 6 as the receipt date. She called USCIS last Tuesday and was told that USCIS is running really slow and is taking 180 days to process APs. The lady she spoke to asked my wife to call back after "it is 180 days past her notice date". Her 180 days will complete on February 6. We have postponed out travel plans several times.

I am writing to you to express my sense of helplessness over the unpredictability of Visa Number allotment to various employment based category. I want to bring to your attention that it’s been nearly a “Decade” since we saw any meaningful Visa Date movement from year 2001 for EB-3 Green Card applicants from India.
It is important to know that despite of severe visa retrogression and random visa cutoff date movements, USICIS or DOS hasn’t released any official information on how many Adjustment of Status applications are pending at USCIS under various categories which leaves thousands of AOS(Adjustment of Status) applicants in complete darkness and dependent on guessing games by various Law firms.
A green card application requires enormous amount of efforts and money from the beneficiary and his/her employer. People who are waiting for 7-8 years now would have had already spent average $15,000-$20,000, in maintaining their statuses and keep the Green Card process going on. Being stuck in a green card process keeps us bonded with 1 employer, job type etc.
We need to know if there is any light at the end of the tunnel. We need to know for how long we have to live our life in limbo. If there is hope than we need to be patient and plan to live like that for another 1-2 years. But if there’s no light at the end of the tunnel than we need to move on with our careers and other family commitments. Only your office and USCIS can help us by releasing statistics on the number and categories of applications pending with USCIS people waiting in this category can plan their lives accordingly.
It will be a great help if DOS or USCIS could tell us about the number of AOS application pending at USCIS along with their Categories(EB-3, EB-2, EB-1) and chargeable country.
We have been waiting for a decade and continue to wait would it be reasonable to request you for some guidance with regards to the Visa allotment. I request your office to provide some statistics on home many Adjustment of Status applications are pending at USCIS.

The numbers are assumptions and NOT facts. Most of these numbers have actually been pulled from other places or based on some rationale (for example 750,000 from Matthew Oh site, 5 minutes/EAD based on what need to be done to print out a card and pack in an envelop)
Workforce of 30 though is a gross assumption. Bigger the number better it is. So we may actually want to question USCIS if there are any resource constraints.
Outsourcing is a perfect Idea! What do you have in mind Wipro at Banglore? :D
What about bringing on H1B fresh graduates as Visa Processing Experts with a two days of Boot Camp Training? Anyway, we are forgetting that USCIS processed 25000 applications in 2 days. Please do not undermine efficiency we have seen in last days -- with that rate, I expect everything to get cleared in few weeks. If improved productivity is maintained/sustained to this level, I do not see any chance for outsourcing or bring H1B guys to this country. Best luck America!

(i.e limited by not being able to switch jobs or even roles within the same company because switching would mean restarting the GC all over from scratch, and spouses having to remain idle even if they are highly qualified on their own, and difficulty of investing in real-estate without any permanance)

I don't think EB3-I would be U for more than a month, as I keep saying this year EB3 would be getting some share of spill-over. So even if it becomes U for April that would be temporarily and it would return back in May.

It seems to me you do not understand the difference between taxes and Social Security / Medicare.
With my taxes I pay for (example) roads, police, courts, public TV and so on. And I use what I pay for (another nice example is when the police paid by me catches me with high speed and fines me :-)
SS and Medicare are future services which I would not use while I am on H1/L1 or if I do not get permanent residence by some reason. This is my money which the US government has compulsory taken from me and I have not used it. So, I have the right to get this money back and use it for my eventual retirement in another country.
We do not change the law of the land to benefit us, we just do not want to be cheated and treated like retarded.
The real ridiculous stuff is the way the government agencies are treating the legal immigrants but nobody in the "great" country care to notice that, especially the law-makers.

Just because we are in a country where there is a small chance for a group of people like ourselves in the IV have the privilege to have our voices heard does not mean we ask for the sun. Do you think in a economy like this with high gas prices, the war, and not to mention the ailing social security system and everything else asking the government to stop taking SS tax and Medicare from non- immigrant workers is going to fly, I DON�T THINK SO. As much as I appreciate the efforts that the IV core team has put in, them being so secretive, it is almost like they have formed a cabal.
