This question is not to undermine the effort, which was tremendous but just from a realistic point of view...
I'm just curious to know how long it will take (or rather how long we are prepared to wait) for the impact of this rally to be felt and what are the changes that can be expected from USCIS as a result ?
Say, after waiting for a few months, status quo continues, what further actions are planned to persist with IV's cause (i.e. more rallies or by other means) ?
If the same question has been already raised, please ignore.
Thanks.
Vin,
I dont think the question is about price of action. Its the price you are going to pay for inaction. Each of us is impacted one way another. So, do you really want to sit at home and do nothing about it?
how many times do you take the approach of inaction to solve a problem?

:D This bill will be passed for sure before August. You and me are not behind this. Microsoft, CISCO and Oralce are the ones indirectly calling the shots. Anti immigrant groups can just talk and shout. Money($$$) will show it in action. Wait and Watch.

The original bill had a 10% per country cap. Don't think that has been removed in the new bill.
Sorry the hard country limit of 10% remains..........

I guess by the end of FY-11, EB2 cutoff will reach Dec 2006 or early 2007.. but movement from there on would be slow as many are started porting now.. In any case I don't there will be more than 10K porting per year.. If porting exceed more than 10K, EB2 progress will be slow.. Good luck to all

I am EB-3 ROW PD 2007 Aug. Reading all the Eb-3 I people's angry, I started to wonder what's gonna happen to the EB-3 ROW. Seems like if lots of Eb3-I change to EB2-I , They will probably eat up all the Spillover from Eb1, EB2 ROW from now on. That makes EB-3 ROW and EB-3 I become the same boat.
Is it what gonna happened? and think about how many people can afford to spend an extra 10k to change the status from EB-3 to EB-2? That's totally not fair. We need to take action all EB-3 ers!!!!!!

Prince charming - I invoked AC21 sometime back after 180 days of filing 485 and moved to a new job on EAD.
My ex employer revoked 140. At this point of time I did a lot of research and found out the following things
(1) AC21 letter never reaches your file - there is no system in place for AC21 letter. G 28 gets into the system because there is a process in place for G 28
AC21 is a law that allows you to change jobs but there is no system in place.
(2) AC21 letter must be provided upon request - different officers want differtent information so they generally issue a NOID and ask you to submit evidence in 30 days. USCIS in some cases sends out straight denials. The denial letter generally has information to file MTR within 30 days if the case needs to be reopened due to USCIS error.
In August when my case was being processed, they sent me a NOID but sent my wife Fp notice - I called customer service and was advised that she can go for FP as usual but I have to respond to NOID before they move forward with my case and I promptly responded with AC21 and my case status changed to "Case reopened, response received" and there were soft LUDs hitting my 485.
Keep all documentation ready and be proactive, you can hire a good lawyer from MTR, remember that when you file for MTR, you cannot work - so before you inform your employer, get a letter from them and then inform them - in case employers will be reluctant to give any documentation if they know you cannot work for sometime. If you are on h1b you dont have to worry.
MTR approvals can take 3 to 5 weeks or more too.
if not on h1b you start accruing unlawful status and usually lawyers suggest that you stay till less than 180 days when your MTR is filed - it never takes 180 days for a decision on MTR so dont worry about unlawful status.
These are hidden risks in AC21 but good news is that AC21 cases have always been successful.
You may have to go through this period of uncertainity.
Good luck.
Take care man

Wow!! Do all these Hi Tech companies(including the giant one I work for) not have any teeth in the system. Sanders gets an amendment, but nothing to change the stupid MBS provisions in favor of these companies. Pending further analysis or details not known yet, seems like we can safely join our friends at numbersusa and oppose this bill.

Look at tax rate in this PDF
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040nre.pdf
I believe that you will contribute about 5K to 401 K and if your employer also makes a contribution then that should take care of taxes. I guess the tax rate is roughly 10-15% as a non resident for low amount of money. I agree that patriot act may not allow you to keep accounts but 401 K is not a current account with easy access to funds.

If only we had this kind of self-inspiration and self-motivation.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law/09/20/jena.six/index.html
Important of all, this rally does not even impact the participants directly. they are just participating to show support whereas in our case it was impacting every one of us and yet people are reluctant to participate.
Man, wish things would change and we would stand up for OUR cause. I know I am dreaming.
When would we learn that nothing comes to you without asking and that there are times we have to stand up for ourselves?

indianabacklog, did you make your video and upload on you tube? you know about 2 action items posted by core right? you people are the right one who should stand first in the line to show our problems. I really appreciate if make a video along with your family.
I would like to shout this issue from the rooftops since it would appear that nobody appreciates how awful this situation is. IV do not have aging out on their agenda, nobody does, only those affected by it. If the delays get long enough waiting for priority dates the horizon might change for many many more employment based people. Did not make video for youtube, to be honest do not know how to and am not sure I could make the message short and sweet since my emotions run away with me when I start talking about his issue.

Commercial airlines fly between 25,000 ft and 40,000 ft. Airlines generally take risks for profits. I know it. Some airlines like United are ultra sensitive to turbulence. Some fly right through turbulence. And sometimes I feel some pilots are plain incompetent, they have no control over aircraft during the storm.
I have personally taken 500+ flights, almost 2 every week. And I can say, I get really nervous when turbulence or strong clouds are present. You are one second away from the big jolt or swing. A lot of times, it has been a roller coaster like ride. Now I would enjoy that once in a while. Sometimes I have seen big aircrafts like Boeing 757-300 series, flex, you see forward portion of aircraft going up and tail portion going down. But its required so that aircraft does not split up mid air. It can be a nasty thing for someone seated in the rear. Always always wear seat belt during turbulence, if it gets severe, you will hit the head on the ceiling. The turbulence during take off and landing is usually more risky as aircraft is closer to ground and can not afford to lose altitude. If it is at a higher altitude, aircraft can lose some altitude, due to "air pockets" and still be ok.
I was in a travel job earlier and I have faced all sorts of similar issues. There was this AA pilot onroute from ATL to ORD who once announced that thunderstorms are on the route and he took a different route claiming he had enough fuel and if not he will land in St. Louis foor refuelling, but he never had to.
I guess such decisions depend a lot on Pilots and their confidence and experience.
